Vol 4 #1
From the President:
Happy Holidays Shamrockers.
As we move into a new and hopefully better year it becomes more and more important to focus on the basics of health and family. We, as The Shamrock Club, have our own expanding family with new members coming into the club monthly. We are also pleased with, building our affiliations with other Celtic groups in the area. During the following year we will continue to do our part to unite the Celtic voice. It just makes it more fun for everyone.
Speaking of fun, The Shamrock Club had our first joint Christmas Party, December 5th, with our good friends the Caledonian Club. Thanks to Clyde and Marcia Scott for hosting the party this year in their beautiful home. It was very much appreciated and obvious they had put quite a bit of time into time and energy into preparing and holiday decorations for the event. The party was a great success and by the look of things, the house was pretty well packed with happy faces & full of music. Thanks to all the musicians. The food was bountiful and very good and the deserts were plenty. Thanks to all helpers. Clyde had a new spin on our ?Yankee Gift Exchange" that sort of made it extra fun using the poem "The Night before Christmas". If you missed the party this year, you'll not want to next year.
Our annual presentations were made at the party for Irishman of the Year and Member of the Year, both well deserved. Dave Kelley is our Irishman of the Year and Jane Lamborn is our Member of the Year. Thanks to, "The one and only; C. J. Kennedy" for doing a great job of designing and preparing their nicely framed certificates.
The Shamrock Club will again co-sponsor "The St. Patrick's Day Parade" with Old Sacramento. This year the St. Patrick's Parade will be on Saturday March 13th (the Saturday BEFORE St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, which will be the following Wednesday) The Parade will be a Day Parade, this year, starting at 1 pm. The wonderful Kitty O'Neal, from KFBK will be our Grand Marshall for the Parade this year. There will also be an improved Parade route making it a better experience for the Parade participants and the viewers. We've been in the planning meetings with Old Sacramento Business and our friends at Access Sacramento will again video tape and narrate the entire Parade, featuring you Shamrockers.
More good news: We are already working on our Heritage Night at the River Cats. It was a huge success last year and this year we are opening it to our other Celtic cousins and it will be Celtic Heritage Night at the River Cats, more news about Club trips to come. Stay tuned!
